Garmin connect workouts do not transfer to my 935

Is there any way to force Garmin connect mobile to transfer workouts to my 935 watch. I understand there is some odd work around about scheduling the workout on the calendar and then syncing the calendar, however the workout still will not show under workouts on the watch.

  • Make sure the workout is of the right type. For example you will not see a workout of the type "Other" in a Running activity. It must be the matching type. You can also connect the watch to a computer over the USB cable, and verify whether the workout really synced to the watch - have a look at the folder //GARMIN/Workouts/. If it did not sync with Garmin Connect, try it with Garmin Express. Also check out how many workouts are in the folder. The maximum is 50 workouts on the watch (on most models).

  • There are about 10 workouts on the watch from a long time ago. I can't use Garmin Express because I use Linux, and Garmin seems to be obsessed with windows.

I don't know what you mean by the workout being of the right type. I created a run workout. If I schedule it on a specific day with a calendar, I can sync the calendar and it will appear on the calendar on the watch. But when I attempt to execute it it asks me to select what type it is. Of the 20 some odd items available one of them is not Run. I can select something else, like Other, and then it seems that I can actually execute the workout.

In searching around on the internet, it seems that this problem existed about 3 years ago because there are a lot of messages about it. That is how I found the workaround by scheduling it with the calendar. Apparently Garmin has never fixed it

  • Run is the first available type, when creating a workout. Personally I never had an issue starting a Run workout, and do not use to see any complaints about it here on the forum either. If your workout is available only from activities of the type Other, then it is not a Running workout, it is a workout of the type "Other".

To be sure something did not change since the last time, I just created a workout in GC Web, and another one in GC app, and both of them were instantly available on my watch, in the Running activity, exactly as they are supposed to.

  • Okay, I have new information. If I create the workout in Garmin connect on my phone it will transfer. If I created it on the computer, and it then transfers from the computer and is visible on my phone, it will then not transfer to my watch.

  • If creating on the computer, you have to use the function "Send to Device" and you need the USB cable and Garmin Express (hence a Windows or a Mac machine) for that

  • Thanks for the information. I'll have to see if Coros has this same limitation since it is near time for me to start looking for a newer device.
