  • Have a garmin 245 forerunner watch is there a way to connect it to the wattbike instead of uploading a fit.file

  • Scrolled and searched sensors on my forerunner 245 and I can indeed connect to wattbike power meter which gives speed and cadence data. Have done this but the correlation was not exact will try out on a 45 minute  session within next couple of days to have better sample data and see if the two sets of data (wattbike)&(garmin) give relative data that coincide with each other, if they are pretty accurate this will save me the hassle of uploading .fit files and ultimately contribute to my training load (which is not possible by uploading .fit files) to garmin. On another note the forerunner 245 is able to connect to my hrm heart rate belt at the same time which is a massive bonus!

Hope this helps anybody else who may have encountered integration problems between wattbike and garmin! Will add to this thread and conclude after my next session

  • Yes but I can get my power data through strava to wattbike. My sole purpose was to get data for training status for garmin which is possible with the speed and cadence data, granted this will not be accurate if I'm doing wattbike rides with varying degrees of elevation, just frustrating that I can upload a fit file and get power data but will not translate the workout to my training load. If strava did vo2 max and predicted run times based on training status through crosstraining activities I would not use garmin connect at all. Seems like garmin are holding customers with lower priced watches to ransom for power data integration for training status!

  • Why don't you simply record the activity with your Garmin device? Only a very limited number of certified 3rd party apps are approved to influence the training status in Garmin Connect (Zwift, TrainerRoad and Rouvy),  but as long as you record all your activities with your Garmin device, there is no need for the 3rd party support. If you need that the data from Watbime count towards the training status in Garmin Connect, speak to them, and ask them to get the same kind of certification from Garmin as the other compatible apps.
