Battery suddenly runs down very fast

I have owned my Garmin Forerunner 645 (no music) for about three years.  Until today,  the battery life has been very good.  I have the pulse rate tracking turned off (because it is so inaccurate) and I only have to charge the watch about every 3 days.

Now today the watch has suddenly seen the battery level drop about 1% per MINUTE, even when I am sitting on the couch and not using any functionality of the watch. I have to charge the watch about every hour to be able to use it.

I am not aware of any changes made to the watch recently.  I have not downloaded any new apps, and as far as I can tell the watch has not received a software update recently.

Performing a hard reset did not fix the problem.

Any ideas what is wrong?

  • Did you do the soft-reset too?

  • Initially I soft reset both the phone and the watch because it couldn't connect after the update.

    And recharged.

Next morning phone was dead, charged it to 100.

This morning it's at 35 percent without any tracking.

    And keep disconnecting spontaneously.

I will soft reset and recharge again.

  • I will soft reset and recharge again.

Let it on the charger certain time after it shows 100%. If the gauge calibration is broken, it may show 100% even if the battery is still quite low, so you have to ignore the gauge value till the proper calibration is restored.
