MoveIQ Fenix 6s pro

I have had this watch since Christmas and still trying to figure it out. MOVE iQ has never worked. When I email for help I get genetic help files which I have gone through and no answer to my follow up questions.

Move IQ is enabled on the watch and in the connect app.

Any suggestions?

Also as a PS my heart rate often doesn't work on the watch despite many times trying to figure out the fit. It seems to be at the beginning of a xc ski even if the ambient temp is not that cold. I assume it's an issue with my perfusion. Have tried tightening and loosening the watch. Frustrating not to get the credit...climbed about 200 m today and it told me my hr was 105. Uh no.

Next thing to figure out is the nav which I tried once with no luck. Any help files or videos would be great! And how to navigate while doing an activity!

  • In what way doesn't Move IQ work? On your watch Move IQ will not start any activities. That function is only on the Vivo and Venu watches. If you not log a walk (and some other activities) it should create a Move IQ event and show that on the timeline. That is it. Move IQ is pretty pointless for the more advanced watches.

  • Yes, if I go for a walk it doesn't start automatically. But I can "start" a walk manually. If i forget to start an activity it does not start one for me (is it supposed to?) Why is there a toggle for Move IQ on my watch then? That seems silly. Explains why it doesn't work I suppose!

  • Auto start activity from Move IQ are only available on Venu and Vivo watches. On Fenix watches (and Forerunners and some other models) it isn't available.

Move IQ is only used as an info that you've done an activity that you didn't log. Not all users like to log walks, but they still think it is interesting to see them as Move IQ events.

My advice is to turn Move IQ off since it is of no value imo.

  • Thank you! So nice to know I shouldn't bother trying to get it to work. Now to figure out the heart rate issue!!

  • Wrist heart rate often got issues for activities where you use your hands a lot, typically xc skiing, cycling, weight lifting etc. It is a lot better to use a chest strap to get accurate readings.

  • Thanks that was my next step. Is there a best brand or model?

  • I use Garmin HRM-Pro which works great for me. It got running dynamics and memory to log without the watch and can also act as an activity tracker. The plus version got a better battery hatch.

If you only are interested in heart rate then you can use any HRM that supports ANT+. Polar got some popular ones. Bluetooth might also work.
