Re-syncing Foreruner 935 activity

Can I re-sync an old Golf activity from Forerunner 935? I accidentally removed a scorecard on Garmin Connect, but I still have the activity (.fit) file on the watch. Is it possible to re-sync the activity with garmin connect (or express) so that scorecard is reimported? I tried to re-import the .fit file manually, but Golf scorecard does not re-appear.

  • An old post, but this might be relevant.

I managed to sync with Garmin Express using my Microsoft Laptop.  I can now see the scorecard there and using the iPad 8.  No “scorecards” are initially visible on the iPhone 6 (running IOS 12.5.2) However, the course “leader view”, “Course Stats”  is visible. I managed to access the scorecard by going through “Course Stats” then “Scorecard” icon on RHS (either icon near  Golf Club or longest drive , then clicked on score.   Once this has been done Scorecards are then available by clicking “Scorecard”. Looks like there’s an initial condition not being loaded by software

  • Not really, this mentions that "Scorecard" is not available at all as menu.

One additional note - I also found a scorecard .fit file, but it can't be imported. I guess I'll have to ask garmin support for help with that, maybe they can re-import it for me. I used FitToCSV from Fit SDK to convert it to csv and found that it does contain all the course data, it's just scattered all over the place so I could find only the registered pars. It would be great however to see all the registered shots etc.

  • I mentioned  in my response, as he occasionally will respond in the Golf forums. Not sure about Golf, but deleting, then recovering fit files can be problematic, as they are often corrupted and require 3rd party software to repair. But if it appears whole on your watch, there might be some hope.

  • There are two files that are created for a golf activity when saved and recorded on a watch:

    1. One file is the regular activity file showing the normal format for an outdoor activity saved and recorded on the watch. The GARMIN folder for the device drive on the watch stores this file in the ACTIVITY or ACTIVITIES folder within the device drive. This just shows the location of the activity in Connect, the time, and GPS map data for the activity.
    2. The second is the .fit file for the scorecard which appears in the SCORECARD folder. Once the scorecard is synced, this file typically goes away from the SCORECARD folder on the watch. This file contains the score during the round, and other info like shot data, stat tracking, depending on the golf settings enabled during the round.

If you deleted the scorecard from the Scorecards section of the Garmin Connect website, then the only way to sync the scorecard back over is if a copy of the scorecard file is still stored for that creation date within the SCORECARD folder of the Garmin device drive, viewable when the watch is in mass storage mode connected to a home computer through File Explorer (if PC) or Finder (Mac).

There would be no way unfortunately to recover the scorecard folder if the 2nd file from the scorecard .FIT file is not available to sync to your account from the device...even if the Activity .FIT file is still stored on the watch.

For guidance on accessing the device drive files, it may be best to reach out to Garmin Golf Support for assistance on checking the files if needed.

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi Cody, yeah, I have both the activity and scorecard fit files on the watch (also saved them on PC), so I'll see if Garmin Golf Support helps me. Thanks!
