Garmin Connect not syncing intensity minutes with Edge 1040

After my last ride my Edge 1040 automatically synced with Garmin Connect as it has done successfully since I purchased it. Unfortunately, the last sync failed to transfer over the 575 intensity minutes gained. They appear on my Edge 1040 as usual but haven't registered in Connect. If you take a look at the following image it shows my intensity minutes for the last 4 weeks and the total for the 22nd March is missing. I've resynced a few times without any success. Has anyone experienced the same situation and found a solution?

  • Hi, I'm having a similar issue since some days with my Edge 1030 but it has started when I have added a Fenix 6 to Garmin Connect so maybe the root cause is different...

  • Hi, I'm having a similar issue since some days with my Edge 1030

Edge 1030 does not support the option of Intensity Minutes (and never did, AFAIK), hence it is not surprising in your case

  • Thanks! This means that data were then coming from my Forerunner 645...fair enough but It's surprising to see that those coming now from the fenix are totally wrong. I did an indoor cycling activity of 75 minutes and with power peaks, HR was for around 28 mins in Z4 and for 15 min in Z2/3 and the fenix has reported 10 min moderate and 6 min high...I went back to see similar workouts when I was wearing the 645 and data are more aligned to the real effort...any idea?

This is what i get wearing the 645:

This is now with the Fenix:

It seems it's stopping to registering at a certain point...

  • How does the Heart Rate graph for give day look like. And I really mean the graph from the Daily Summary, not the one from the activity! Did you use a HRM chest strap for the Edge, or did you broadcast the HR from your watch? If you used a strap, then which model?

  • I've always used an ANT+/bluetooth strap connected with the EDGE and seen by the 645, the same strap is seen by the fenix.

I get your point...I went for example to march 18th (Saturday) and the graph registered by the 645 go up to 143bpm while the Edge has a peak of 174 and average of 147 but data seems aligned

I did the same comparison for the activity while wearing the fenix for march 23rd (Thursday)

The fenix has 112 bpm as peak

The EDGE has registered 45 minutes with an average of 151, this should have pushed the intensity minutes above the 150 that week...

Based on the other graph I've observed, the fenix always read below the edge (which may be normal if it was not connected to the same strap) but also below what the 645 was reading. I'm wearing the two watches in the same way...

  • If you want that the watch reads the HR from the strap, you have to start an activity on the watch too (besides having it connected to the strap). The strap is only used when an activity is in progress.

At the end, you can discard the activity on the watch, instead of saving it, to avoid a duplicate activity in Garmin Connect. In this way the HR data in the activity, and in the all-day graph (representing what was used by the watch and for the IM calculation) will be the same.

  • It's not the best solution but will help for sure...Honestly I'm baffled on the underperformance of th fenix compared to the 645 in regards to HR accuracy, considering this is one of the paremeters used to calculate the other health/performance metrics.
Anyhow, massive thanks the time spent for me and for your precious help :)
