Expedition badges bugged

I started the Great Wall expedition earlier today and after about 22k steps I synced my Forerunner 945 and earned the badge. I then started the Grand Canyon Rim Trail expedition and was awarded the badge immediately even though I didn't get the necessary steps. It must have checked the steps for the day and awarded me the badge. I didn't start another expedition since I suspects it will again add 22k steps towards the badge.

Sure, you can email me. I guess, you can see the address in my profile?

  • Hi! Since we are already on the topic: why can’t I manually insert elevation gain and make it cojnt towards my expedition challenges? If I were to go 10km on a treadmill with 2% incline, I should be able to edit the correct elevation gain as if I was going outside with the same incline/elevation gain.

I think this would be great for everyone not able to hike outside or in suitable areas where there are much elevation gain at all. You can pretty much edit everything in the app and it would still count towards several challenges/badges, but not elevation gain/ floors climbed on the expeditions. Please fix this! :)

    Sincerely

    Christian

FYI : After about two months I received the following information from Garmin regarding the problem, that cycling counts towards expedition badges.

"I just got a report from the investigation that some older models, such as the Forerunner 235 that is listed on your account will upload the cycling distance as the total daily wellness distance when syncing with Garmin Connect. This is what is causing the distance to apply to the expedition badges. We are look into possible adjustments that can be made for this, however, we do not have a timeframe for any release of a change that will resolve this."

  • As mentioned by 7853795. We have found through investigation that due to a difference in software design, there are some older models of Garmin wearables that will contribute distance to Hike Expeditions even when using a Cycling activity profile. There are no plans at this time to release updates to address this on these older models.
