Any method to inform phone about lost watch?

Hi,

I always run with watch and Android phone together with me.

I'm looking for some solution to immediately start some kind of alarm on the phone if watch will disconnect with phone.

I need it in case I will loose watch in the forest and will not notice fast enough.

I tried some apps detecting bluetooths devices connected to phone but they do not see garmin watches so it doesnt work.

Do you have some ideas for such event?

  • In fact the alert for lost BT connection is on by default on all Garmin models I am familiar with. However, people often find it annoying most of the time (including  myself) and turn it off. Especially when you are home, and let your phone on the desk, when you then move around the house, you are constantly being alerted with lost and regained BT connection. I tend to turn the alert on only when I am in situations I fear the loss of the phone. So if you fear losing the phone while running, just enable the alert.

I do not know which model you own, but typically the alert can be found in Settings » Phone » Alerts » on

Edit: rereading your post, I realize I missed the point, and that you want it in the other way - getting an alarm on the phone for a lost watch. I cannot imagine how it could happen, but you will probably not find any solution, although a CIQ app + a phone companion app could do it. Developing it would cost some time, and I do not believe that anyone would be willing to cover the cost of the development, or even pay a small amount to participate on it. You can check the CIQ store for a suitable app anyway, perhaps you'll find something.

  • You are the firtst person who understand the topic :). I had plenty of advices that it's buit in the watch. To repeat, alarm must be ON THE PHONE, not on the watch!

I didn't find any app for android phone. I dont know why Fenix 7x is not visible as device by any apps which can scan BT devices in phone range. Then it would be easier. Only GC can see watch.

  • You have to look for an app able to detect BTLE devices. Alternatively, there might be a way to detect the presence of the watch with ANT+ (though there are not many phones supporting ANT+), WiFi, and perhaps even NFC. The advantage of NFC and ANT+ is that they have smaller range, hence the alarm could come quicker.

  • Maybe this could be done with Tasker "If Bluetooth device X is disconnected play sounds y". I do have my watches in the list of connected devices.

  • Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. Didn't know why other tested app didn't see Fenix but seems this can do the job. I used Macrodroid for test.
