I am currently following a coach Amy 5k plan (34 minute goal). The long runs have increased to 8 miles (the other three runs tend to be around 4-6 miles each for a total of a little over 20 miles per week). Is this normal for a 3.1 mile race?
I'm in week 10 of 16 and can just now see that next week (week 11 keeps the long run at 8 miles which will be the third 8 mile long run).
I'm a pretty new runner (this is my first Garmin training program) but I have a lot of running friends who are very surprised at the length of the runs and have told me they believe there is a glitch in my program.
Is this what other people have experienced with her 5k race preparation? Is this what other coaches expect?
