Dividing a single activity into several parts / assigning different shoes to different parts

Hello everyone.

Is it possible, after recording a single activity - even through manual editing of related files if it cannot be done automatically - to split it into several segments, so that a different pair of shoes can be assigned to each segment?

For example, today I was training on the track, and recorded a single activity where I did 4km warm-up with shoe A, 10 400m repeats with shoe B, 2 more repeats with shoe C, 1km of cool-down with shoe B.

The app only allows me to shorten an activity, but not to divide it into segments, or into separate activities from a parent activity. Even from the web I can't find any menu suitable for this purpose.

Can anyone help me out?

I have a Forerunner 245.

Thank you very much!

  • In Garmin Connect use the function Convert to Multisport Activity, and then you can assign a different gear to each of the legs. You can use the same sport for each of the legs. This is how it looks like in GC Web (you need need to click Edit first!), but it is available in the GC mobile app too:

  • Thanks! Side question: is there a way, while shortening an activity, to shorten from the beginning? I was only able to eliminate time from the end backwards.

  • Yes, you can shorten the activity from both sides. In the app - there are functions Trim Start and Trim End, and in GC Web, you simply use the drawer to shorten it from the start and/or from the end.
