Has there been a change in Intensity minute calculation?

Logged a 50 minute sweet spot ride, which was scored as a 4.3 in aerobic benefit, and a 173 in training load.

However, it was only calculated at 50 minutes in the intensity minute widget. Previous times I've done this workout it credits about 85+ minutes.

Has there been a change to intensity minute calculations, or is it broken?

  • Has there been a change to intensity minute calculations, or is it broken?

No, AFAIK, there was not any change in the algorithm recently, but since in the default configuration, the intensity and vigorous thresholds depend on your Resting (and Max) HR, it is more probable that your Resting HR and/or Max HR changed, and that the HR did not reach the needed level for the vigorous minutes.

  • Unfortunately, while that would be the easiest answer, it is not the right one in this scenario.

Some indicators here are the load and benefit value, were this workout to be too low to be considered active or vigorous, it would not have been a 173 training load, nor would it be a 4.3 in aerobic benefit. To achieve that 4.3, my  HR was zone 4 for 22 minutes, and Zone 5 for 6.

To add to the fun, I just did a 45 minute cycling workout, which was calculated as a total of 2 (two) intensity minutes. The workout load on this one was 130. This is annoying when basic functionality fails. I've also noticed that connect has fully given up trying to calculate calories from the workout.

  • Intensity Minutes and Training Load use completely different criteria. Please post the screenshots of your Resting HR and Max HR graphs, as well as the HR graph of the concerned activity.
