Hand Spasms

Has anyone else had hand spasms wearing their device? I have the vivofit4 and I wear it on the inside of my wrist (i.e., the buckle facing outward) and after some time my hand began spasming. Naturally I thought it was too tight but after I started losing A LOT of weight the problem persisted. Finally (about a 45 days ago) I stopped wearing it and the problem ended.

I don't think this is normal but I'm still wondering about it.

  • I don't think this is normal but I'm still wondering about it.

Indeed it is not normal - in the ~4 years I closely follow this forum I never heard about a similar problem, and searching the entire forum for another similar case comes out empty too. I suggest trying whether you start feeling any troubles when worn on the other wrist and outwards. Also make sure to clean the watch regularly with 70% medical alcohol to avoid developing a bacterial allergy.

Otherwise I recommend consulting a physician, perhaps you suffer from some rare allergy.

  • I would definitely try wearing the watch in the "normal" way - outwards. When worn inwards, and sitting at the desk, resting on it with the watch under the wrist, the nerves get compressed, and I can imagine it could indeed lead to such problems even if the wristband is loose enough.
