Garmin Connect does not show my activities

I am a new owner of a GPSMAP 66i. I set up my device and installed Garmin Explore on my (Android) phone. Everything seems to work fine. I'm able to sync with Garmin Explore and my activities show up on the Garmin Explore web site. However, my activities do *not* appear on the Garmin Connect web site. When I installed Garmin Connect on my phone, it recognized my previously paired GPSMAP 66i, but doesn't seem to sync (the little circle spins for a long time and nothing seems to happen). My activities don't show up in Garmin Connect on my phone either (no surprise since they aren't on the web site).

I have three questions:

1. Is it sensible to use both Garmin Connect *and* Garmin Explore on my phone? They seem to have different feature sets, but are they conflicting?

2. Why don't the activities I sync via Garmin Explore appear on the Garmin Connect web site? Are they independent activity databases?

3. Why doesn't syncing appear to work using the Garmin Connect app on my phone? Is the previously installed Garmin Explore app blocking it somehow?

Thanks!

    1. They are not conflicting
    2. Explore does not store the data on the server, it stores it locally on the phone
    3. Hard to tell, I'd try removing the device from Garmin Connect, and adding it anew
  • Thanks for your reply.

My experience with #2 above is different than what you are saying. When I sync with Garmin Explore on my phone, my activities appear on the web site here: https://explore.garmin.com/Map, but do not appear on the web site here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/. This is why I'm wondering if the two online databases, for Explore and Connect, are separate.

I'll try removing and adding my device to Garmin Connect again when I have access to my device this evening (I'm at work now). However, I didn't exactly "add" my device to Garmin Connect at all. I skipped that part. Instead, Garmin Connect, on my phone, automatically detected the Bluetooth pairing I had previously made with Garmin Explore and Android asked me if I wanted to grant permission to Garmin Connect to access that pairing. I say, "yes", of course, and Garmin Connect shows my device in the list of devices it knows about. But now I'm wondering if that's not enough.

  • Yes, you can access Explore data through the website too, but unlike at Garmin Connect, they are also stored locally on the phone, and you can sync the app without an Internet connectivity. Garmin Connect is entirely different system, and indeed isolated from Explore.

  • Okay, great. Good to know. Thanks for your help!

  • Did you already solved this issue? I'm having the same problems.

  • I haven't pursued it since posting my original message. I've been using Explore and, so far, have been satisfied with that. I will likely try to get Connect working again at some point, mostly just to see it work. It hasn't been a priority for me, though.

  • In the meanwhile: I can conform that rhe solution is to delete the paring in Connect and than recreatie it.

After pairing with Explorer Connect recognizes the connection as well, but it isn't created 100% correctly. By deleting and re-pairing it is fixed.
