Unable to enter Time under Create Manual Activity

After recent update, it seems that I am Unable to select and enter Time is duration of manually created Activity.

  • Yes, the time is not editable at swimming, for unknown reasons. You can bypass it by temporarily changing the activity type for example to running, and switching back to swimming after you have entered the time.

  • Same issue. Trux's trick worked for me. Garmin Connect has serious issues with usability.

Frankly told, I would not call this issue serious. At the worst, it is a minor annoyance, with an easy workaround available. Who needs adding swimming activities manually and why? Seems like a rather exceptional case to me. There can be much worse problems than that.

  • I disagree. Not being able to manually enter your swim time is a huge deal! The updated software needs to address this bug. I regularly enter manual swim time and swim daily! I'm not pleased with the Connect app. It seems like a very poor quality check process before releasing the software update. Swimmers shouldn't have to enter "running" to add time then go switch it back to "swimming." Maybe I should go buy an Apple Watch that is very swimmer friendly and most of my teammates wear.

Why don't you record it with your watch?

As for the editing - you will need to ask directly Garmin's Support for the change, we cannot make that for them here, on the user forum. We can only try to help you by suggesting workarounds.

You can also uninstall the latest version, disable auto-updates, and install the older one (i.e. from apkmirror.com)

  • You can't record swimming with my model. Only walking, running and cycling!

  • So record it as running or walking, and then change to swimming in the app. Still much simpler than having to enter the activity manually.

  • I normally record my swimming sessions with my watch as cardio then change it to swimming.

The problem is that the pace isn't reported correctly: it reads 0 min / 100m.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Get a watch supporting Swimming. You can find quite inexpensive ones, if that is a concern - for example the older Instinct (1st gen) can be found for 150€ (new) and it supports both open water swimming (using GPS) and pool swimming (using the accelerometer), and unlike all other low and mid budget Garmin watches, it is water rated 10 ATM (all other models except the top lines are rated 5 ATM).

Or just enter the number of pools you swam (and the pool length) manually, and the pace should then adjust accordingly

  • Thank you for your feedback.

The pace does not adjust even though I do enter the pool length and number of laps manually...
