The watch is not supposed to switch off after a swim. If you mean it does not save the activity, then you most likely registered a HRM belt, and did not use it, or removed it before the HR data could be retrieved from it. If you do not need the data from the HRM, simply confirm that you want to store the session without the external HR data.
