"Power" analysis

What "Power" metric do I load on the watch? I would like to see Power analysis after my runs and stationary bike rides. Thank you!

  • Power metrics for running activities is available on many recent Garmin models natively, so you do not need to load anything, the running power stats will appear automatically in Garmin Connect.

If you own an older model not supporting the running power natively, you can still install a Connect IQ app - there are a few of them in the CIQ store.

For cycling power, you need to connect the power meter of the bike to your watch. The power curve will then also appear in the activity stats in Garmin Connect. If you have no power meter on the bike, or cannot connect it to your watch, then again there are some apps in the CIQ store also for cycling power estimates.

  • Thanks! I have Fenix 7s and I don't get power analysis automatically.

I understand about the bike that I need the separate sensor.

  • Fenix 7 has running power minimally since firmware v9.28, as far as I can see in the changelogs, so check the version of your watch in Menu » System » About. If you have an older version, connect your watch to a computer with Garmin Express and check for updates.

If the watch already is up-to-date, and you do not see the power curve in your activity stats, then post a question on the Fenix 7 subforum, and ask whether there is a setting that needs to be enabled. Personally I am not familiar with F7, and on my Instinct 2, the running power appeared automatically without the need to change any settings.

  • Thank you very much, Trux! I'll let you know what answer I get. I really appreciate your time! I didn't realize right away you weren't a tech support for Garmin )

  • ... ah, I realized now, why you do not see the Running Power - you need one of the following HRM belts, or the Running Dynamics Pod, to get the Running Power. Since I almost always use my HRM-Pro, I forgot it was needed for the power stats.

    • HRM-Pro Plus
    • HRM-Pro
    • HRM-Run
    • HRM-Tri
    • Running Dynamics Pod
  • Ah! I use Polar H10. But I need one of the Garmin brands...

  • Yes, they say the same at the Fenix 7 subforum ) I need HRM belt
