Cannot add even distance to new event

I want to create a new calendar event (because somehow the Toronto Marathon is such an obscure event I can't "find" it). I can get through every step until I have to add the event distance, at which point, although I can add "42.2" to the field, clicking the check mark to complete the step just causes the mobile keyboard to close and immediately reopen. I can't hit next and I can't skip the step. 

I have to say I am amazed at the number of seemingly straightforward things simply do not work between my watch and the app. It's quite remarkable.

    Why you couldn't find the event was because no one had created it. I've created it now and it worked. I used the browser in a computer.

    I also tried it in the app and it works there as well. I don't see any checkmark when adding the distance. I write the distance and then press the down button for the keyboard to disappear and then click the big Next button to go to next page. It also works to press the return button on the keyboard to make the keyboard go away.
