Courses not syncing from Connect to 955

I'm following the steps described at

to try to access a course on my 955. When I get to the step where I should be able to select a course, the only option the watch shows is to create a new course - none of the courses I have created on Connect show up (yes, I have sent them to device on Connect).

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm feeling kind of stuck not being able to access one of the main features I bought the watch for. Am I missing something obvious?

Where do you look them up? Did you choose the right Course type when creating the course? For example you will not find a course of the Type "Hiking" in the Running activity menu. You have to use a matching type.

You can also connect to the watch over the USB cable and verify whether the courses are really present in the folder //GARMIN/Courses

Look at the replies from trux. Check the type of the courses and look in the Courses folder on the watch.
