Oregon 700 will no longer connect to garmin connect app

I've been using the app with my Oregon for a few years now, without any issues.  But since 20/9/2022, my Oregon 700 will no longer sync with the android garmin connect app. 

I tried to reconnect the device by removing the Bluetooth link in the phone and the device.  I then removed the device from the app.  Then I tried to reconnect the device from scratch, but the installation fails.  I do get the confirmation of the passcode but after a while I get the message that the connection failed.

I already tried to remove and reinstall the app on the phone and re-installing the latest firmware on the device.  Nothing seems to help.

Any ideas?
