Why does my garmin vivosmart 5 keep removing itself from my phone?

Hi there.

To give some context, I have a brand new garmin vivosmart 5. 

The problem is, at apparently random times my watch completely removes itself from garmin connect mobile. I have an android phone.

Basically when I try to pair my watch the app says its paired to my garmin account, but its never been paired to my phone before, which I know isnt the case.

I only have one other garmin device, an edge 530 which I connect and sync regularly with my phone and have no troubles.

To get my watch back on the app I have found that I have to go to my phones Bluetooth settings (my phone still recognises my vivosmart) and I press connect. At the same on my watch I have to go Menu -> phone -> pair phone. I then have to type a 6 digit pairing code to connect my device.

I'm really confused!

This problem happens pretty my every morning when I try to sync my sleep data, and sometimes again through the day.
