Calorie counter

Quick query, I didn't wear my Garmin vivoactive 4 last night when I went to bed and only put it on mid morning. When I've gone to sync it, the watch has recorded 800+ calories burned already for today.

How can that be and what does it say for Garmins accuracy when it comes to calories burned.

  • You burn Calories even without wearing the watch. The Resting Metabolic Rate is around 80 Calories per hour alone, at an average male person.

  • Hi thanks for the reply. I know you continue to burn calories even when not wearing the watch. I was just more suprised that Garmin calculates an average calorie burn based on no data for that time period. However if on average its about 80 calories per hour when resting then 800+ seems about right
