Activity date not correct on Forerunner

My Forerunner froze. I turned it off and back on. It said Dec 31 4:00 PM. It is July 20 11:15 AM. I went ahead and started my hike and my watch synced to GPS at some point during my hike. However, the date of the activity was saved as Dec. 31. I changed the date and time in Garmin Connect so now the activity shows up for today, connected my watch to my computer and synced several times but my watch still says 12/31 for the activity. My steps from the hike are not showing up in steps either. It shows the walk but there are no steps counted. Does anyone know how to change the date of an activity on a Forerunner?

Delete the activity from the watch, to get rid of it Slight smile If you really need it on the watch for some strange reason (it is not needed by the watch for any calculations anymore), you could take the activity FIT file (either from the folder //GARMIN/Activity on the watch, or exporting it from Garmin Connect Web as "original"), edit the date with the help of the FIT File Tools » Time Adjuster, and then putting it back on the watch. Deleting it is simpler, though.

  • I changed the date in Connect and it now shows up for July 20, but none of the stats show up individually: no intensity minutes, steps, heart rate, etc. In steps, it shows a green line with the activity, but no steps are recorded. How can this be fixed?

  • How can this be fixed?

It can't (at least not without some serious hacking of the monitoring, device, and other fit files, requiring a very good and deep knowledge of the system, that is nowhere documented). All these features are being processed in the real-time on the watch, so the subsequent changing of the the date won't make any difference. Make another hike Slight smile

  • Bummer! Lesson learned. Thank you for your help!
