How does the emergency contact work?

I have a Garmin Venu and have hubby set up as an emergency contact in the app.

I was running a few days ago, and had my watch and phone with me, and fell quite badly. Hubby wasn't contacted. Anyone know why? What should happen in order for him to be contacted? And how is he contacted?

Thanks

  • I had a fall while walking this winter, slipped on a patch of black ice. My watch arm hit the ground first, then the rest of me hit the ground  i seen the notice on the watch that it was going to send the alert, but i did not cancel it soon enough and the alert was sent.

The problem with this scenario is that the receiving person must not be so busy that they ignore the phone for 45 minutes .

  • Solution is to add several emergency contacts. You can have up to 3 contacts added.

  • Yes, the data indeed shows a rather abrupt stop from the speed of 2.137 m/s to 0 within one sample interval (3s in this case), and no consequent movement during 4 minutes, so I'd tell it was eligible to trigger the alarm. I recommend contacting the Support, sending them the file, and pointing them to the the timestamp 1025463294 in the fit file (corresponding to the activity time 6'42"). They might be able to tell you better why the alarm was not triggered, though they may blame it on a non-working Bluetooth connection with the phone in the moment of the accident.
