Instinct 2/Fenix 7 - Why isn't my APAC device listed in my Garmin Connect account for my country?

After 3 Months of troubleshooting with several Fenix 7, Instinct 2 and now Forerunner 955, I figured out why I can't get any of my phones paired with the watches. For using an APAC watch, you need to have your garmin account homecountry set to an APAC country. This small setting seems so insignificant and is also hidden deep in the account settings, but the watch will not appear in pairing mode otherwise.

This is imho a big bug, and at least 2 people I connected with over the last months were able to solve their pairing issues with setting the country right after we found that out.

I am happy that it works now, and this knowledge should be spread -hence a new thread with a searchable title.

To change the settings:

  1. Open Garmin Connect
  2. Go into 'Profile & Privacy'
  3. At the bottom go into 'Manage Garmin Account'
  4. Set the Location to an APAC country
  5. Sign out from the app
  6. Sign in again
