Number of steps inaccurate

  1. I have been on my feet all day doing things. It's now 8:33pm and it's telling me I've done 4003 steps. I've noticed that I never get close to 10,000. Even at work when I'm walking everywhere I used to do 10,000 and now it hits around 5,000. Why is this?
  • Why is this?

Hard to tell without knowing any details. Didn't you by hazard push a caddy or a pram? What Garmin device do you own? How do you carry it? Is it set as your "preferred activity tracking device" in the settings? Do you walk with hands in the pockets? Did you successfully sync the watch to Garmin Connect? Where do you see the wrong steps number - on the watch, or in Garmin Connect, or on both places the same value?

  • I don't push anything around or have my hands in my pockets. Yes it's my preferred tracking device.

It's been synced for a while and never been a problem. Steps noted from watch and Garmin Connect.

Also noticed that I have to charge it more often too, at least twice a week.

    Its a Venu Sq, thanks.

  • Hm, in that case, personally I do not really have an idea. Try walking around, watching the display and verifying whether it counts the steps or not. Usually it does not start counting immediately after you have just started moving, though only after around a dozen of steps (including them retrospectively too). If you find the watch does not count the steps, contact the Product Support.
