Under Profile->Stats->Lifetime Totals, what is the difference between Steps->Distance and Activities->Distance ?

Point is I do simple activities and runs, I think the 2 numbers (Steps Distance and Activities Distance) should be same in my case but they are different!

  • I think the 2 numbers (Steps Distance and Activities Distance) should be same in my case but they are different!

They would be same only if you never did any steps out of the activities with measured distance (the runs in your case). Better told not even then, because the accuracy of measuring the distance by steps, will mostly result in a different distance than if calculated with the help of GPS.

  • Ok, specific numbers here: Steps->Distance is 628.20 miles and Activities->Distance is 578.58 miles.  It seems you’re saying the delta is explained by the difference between Steps algorithm calculations and GPS measured Activities accuracy?

Not only. You certainly do some steps also before you start an activity, and after you stop it. Or don't you make any steps at all, removing the watch immediately, when you stop the activity?

  • Yes there are Some steps, I turn on watch inside house, walk out through garage, go halfway down driveway, then start run activity. Then reverse order when finished (stop run activity) in driveway.  (Didn’t realize this part was being tracked/calculated.). Thanks much, this has been useful conversation.
