Temperature during yoga activity

Hi. Anyone know if it possible to activate the temperature measuring during yoga active? Lately I have been going to hot yoga and would be interesting to see the temperature during the class.

  • I got temperature readings for yoga on my Forerunner 945.

The temperature you will see is not the correct room temperature unless you put the watch beside you and preferably hanging in the air.

  • I also do see the temperature graph at yoga activities with Instinct 2 as well as I did with the older Instinct, so I'd tell it is generally available. If you are looking for the body temperature, then the reading from the watch is also not very reliable, since the sensor is influenced by both - by the body temperature, and by the ambient temperature. And also the hand movements and air flow have big impact on the readings. You can improve it a bit by pulling a sleeve over the watch, or using a neoprene band to cover the watch, and limit so the influence of the ambient air.

Pros use the Core sensor for measuring their body temperature, but it is pretty expensive (250 CHF on their website, about the same in $ or €), and on my mind not worth of the money unless you really are a data junkie, or a professional athlete.

  • I have a Fenix 6 pro and after the activity there is no graphic of temperature as in other activities.

There definitely are temperature graphs at Fenix 6 available. I just verified it on activities of a friend with the F6. Please share a link to one of your activities. And make sure you did not disable the Temperature graphs in the activity settings (click the button Customize Charts above the charts in GC Web), although I am not sure whether it disables the graphs in the app:

If you're wanting this on your watch as a data field, yes. I don't regularly do yoga, but just verified that it is possible on my epix Gen 2.

If you're referring to viewing on the Garmin Connect Mobile app (this subforum), no. Neither during nor after the activity has been saved. However, you can view this data on Garmin Connect Web. If you don't see it, then make sure it is selected, as trux mentioned.

Note that as others have mentioned these readings may be of questionable value for the reasons cited.

I do see the temperature graphs at activities from Fenix 6 both in GC Web and GC Mobile Android (as well as in GCM iOS):

  • Not for my setup. Yoga activity on epix sw ver 8.18, GC mobile android ver 4.54.1. However, I do see the temperature graph for other activities, such as running.

  • Ah, yes, you are right. Sorry, could not check a yoga activity on F6, since the friend has none visible in GCM. In that case the solution is temporarily changing the activity type to something else (i.e. Running). The temp data is stored, and will be displayed. Just tested it with another device.

  • I checked the GC web and it has the temperature tracking and during the activity, I can see it on the watch. But the CG app on the phone does not have the chart of the temperature during the activity.

  • Yes, that's exactly what we told you Wink. The available workaround is temporarily changing the activity type. Going to GC Web is probably quicker, though.
