I have backcountry skiing as an activity on my fenix 6pro but when syncing to garmin connect it changed the activity to freeride/snowboard with no option to change to backcountry skiing. How to fix

Activity type changes in garmin connect when syncing. It changes from backcountry skiing to freeride/snowboard. I have a fenix 6s pro. I know the option is available as for someone else the activity remained backcountry skiing when syncing. Does anyone know what the issue is?

  • There is no type called exactly "backcountry skiing" in Garmin Connect so it must be logged as something else. There is no freeride/snowboard either so what is it logged as?

There are two alternatives for skiing and snowboarding:

    "Backcountry skiiing/snowboarding" and "Resort skiiing/snowboarding"

  • Thank you! So indeed I don't have Backcountry Skiing/Snowboarding in garmin connect. Only the following Winter Sports (sorry in Dutch) but nevertheless you see it is not there. It is so weird. I do have it on my fenix so why is it not transferred as the same type of activity.

  • If you switch to English you will have backcountry skiing/snowboarding. It is The same as your Freeriden/snowboarden.

The activity profiles on your watch is not the same as the activity types is Garmin Connect. They are just names for a profile that use a type.

But an interesting thing is if you transfer the activity to Strava it will be mapped to alpine ski. Strava use different types for skiing and snowboarding so the types are different.
