CONNECT APP BLUETOOTH ISSUES

Dear All and Garmin Team,

As it's being reported in different forums/platforms and by several users. The app seems to be broken and no longer being able to effectively talk with several devices' bluetooth.

After running some tests from my end, it seems that since the last update to the Android app Ver. 4.52 the APP it's not longer being able to communicate effectively with the device's Bluetooth and pair.

I have 3 Garmin devices (Descent MKI, Edge 830, Venu 2 Plus). After doing clean installs of the app on my phone (Huawei Mate 20 Pro Harmony OS 2.0.0) and factory resetting the devices. Only the Descent MKI was able to re-connect to the device (after several attempts).

When trying on my tablet (Samsung Tab 6S Android 11) all devices paired.

So, it seems that the last update broke the capacity of the APP to communicate, read & write the Bluetooth configs for several devices. As it can be seen in the following threads:

https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/garmin-connect-mobile-andriod/283174/repeatly-bluetooth-pairing-codes-after-disconnecting-watch/1394965#1394965

https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/healthandwellness/f/venu-2-plus-964331130/283865/venu-2-plus-battery-drain-issue

This was discovered after following the recommended steps by Garmin to "fix" the well known and reported battery drain issues seen on the Venu 2 Plus.

If there is any additional information required from my end to further help on this, let me know.

Best regards,

  • Dear All and Garmin Team,

It is easier to contact the team of Garmin at support.garmin.com, since this is a user forum, and Garmin's staff rarely answers support questions here. You can also try the tips in the thread thread forums.garmin.com/.../sync-connection-troubleshooting-guide

  • Thanks for the kind suggestion!

Already contacted them and several people had done too. Sadly none of the troubleshooting guides/suggestions seems to help ease the issue.

Since the issues had been reported for couple of months already seems that they tried to fix already, but instead just broke the app and system even further.

    Cheers!

  • Same issue for me (Samsung A52 / Forerunner 945 / HRM-Pro). The belt connection remains. However, the app keeps removing the watch and I have to pair it every single time I want to synchronize my data by going through the whole process (pairing, entering code, validating choices about notification, synchronization, etc...). This has happend for about two weeks now.

  • If the watch is connected to multiple devices (phones and tablets) the bluetooth connection can easily start to malfunction. Best is to only connect the watch to a single device. You can still use the other device to view the synced data but do not connect the watch to it.

  • I have removed the HRM-Pro from the devices. It did not change anything. After a very short while (a couple of minutes ? Hours ? Didn't check), the app had promptly forgotten about my 945... There is definitely, somewhere, a bug.
