My fenix 5+ disconnects from my polar heart rate monitor after 7-8km into my run and requires me to stop recording the run and resume again for the HRM to reconnect... Very annoying

My fenix 5+ disconnects from my polar heart rate monitor after 7-8km into my run and requires me to stop recording the run and resume again for the HRM to reconnect... It then frequently drops the HRM connection again. Also, the wrist HRM in the watch doesn't then automatically pick up my heart rate as a backup. Would have expected that at least... This makes running with a HRM strap useless since recording shows huge gaps with no or very low heart rate

  • polar model is #3 (ID 45577) using ant+ connection. Bought it 1+ years ago brand new. Don't know what ble is.

I know it disconnects bc hear rate suddenly drops from 150-160 to below 60 and then disappears with two "--" appearing on the screen.

wrist hrm doesn't kick in. When I look at heart rate recording of the run, it is steady at 150-160, then drops with a gap of no recording for a few mins before it reconnects and then suddenly shows 150-160 again.

When I just use wrist hrm, it consistently shows 160-170 (is higher than with polar hrm) throughout the entire run and doesn't drop. But it doesn't kick-in when teh polar hrm drops for whatever reason.

Can't be wrong iwth polar or watch since it perfectly connects at the beginning and records the heart rate between 150-160 for 30-40mins of my run but then suddenly drops and when reconnected records remainder of the run at 150-160. It somehow looses the connection in-between for whatever reason.

  • 1) Have checked that before and it is only the polar that is present

    2) ok will do that before my next run

    3) how can I extract a fit file? Do i do this from the Garmin Connect app on my phone or from the watch directly?

    4) No, bc the polar connects. It is the Fenix 5+ that looses the connection to Polar and doesn't switch to the wrist hrm. It is a defect on the watch, not the polar. I also use an Edge 530 for cycling and connect my polar there and it never looses connection. My watch seems to be faulty!

    5) absolutely, I take the pod off and clean it extensively and rinse the strap in warm water. it is well maintained.

    Thanks
