Why doesn't add MoveIQ distance to the Gear?

I walk a lot during my work, but it’s irregular, so it would be inconvenient to measure manually. And it would quickly run out of battery due to GPS the occasional 10-12 hours a day.

  • Gear is only connected to activities. Move IQ events are not real activities.

Use Ultratrac if you need GPS. Otherwise use a walking activity with GPS turned off.

  • Tracking without GPS is completely useless with inaccurate data. And between tall buildings the UltraTrac drifting everywhere. Both options would be inconvenient and cumbersome. During these type of activities I don't need any extra statistics, but the MoveIQ also catch my activities correctly and in months, years, plenty of kilometers accumulate. It would be great if I could at least manually add these events to my gears to get a more accurate data of my usage, amortization.

  • Move IQ doesn't track your distance. You will get the same distance even if you turn off Move IQ. It is the number of strides multiplied with the stride distance that adds up the distance.

You can manually create activities for that data and the gear will get the added distance.

  • It is the number of strides multiplied with the stride distance that adds up the distance.

So this type of distance measurement and step counter doesn't have anything to do with Move IQ? I mean, if I delete any MoveIQ event will I not lose some the steps and distances in my daily stats?

  • Correct. I got Move IQ turned off since it is pointless. You get steps and distance without it.

  • So the question is the same after we have clarified this misunderstanding. How can I add the tracked distance to a gear?

Only GPS+Galileo every seconds measurement manual activities make sense. But even these drift in tall buildings. All the others are completely meaningless, consuming a lot in return. The typical users don’t care because they run 1-2 hours a day while sitting in work and going with public transport. But for someone who walks 10-12 hours a day at irregular intervals, directions, isn't a proper solution for continuous manual switching on and off. nor continuous measurement.

  • Gear can only be added to activities so you must create an activity.
