Just received a Garmin Instinct Solar for Christmas to replace my Galaxy watch. I frequently hike with hiking poles in rocky mountainous terrain and appreciate many features of this watch for its use.. In the Samsung world the phone in the pocket assists the watch to insure steps counted accurately when arm motion is not sufficient. Now I am disappointed that I am only getting about 60% of my steps counted. The Instinct will not connect to Garmin's current version of foot pod. So why can't Garmin Connect be updated to assist the Garmin Watch in these circumstances? Or why don't they have a simple foot pod that can assist on the step count? Seems a big miss for their mainline hiking watch.
