Run incorrectly saved as Steps when synced with the app.

I have a Forerunner 745 that I only use for runs. The watch GPS works fine, shows splits and pace and saves the run. But when it syncs and uploads to the mobile app, it saves it as steps. Has worked fine occasionally but majority of runs are steps. Have tried deleting app, clearing watch history, reset via computer etc but without success. Any ideas?

None of these look like activities. Do you have any files on your watch located in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder?

They should look something like this with the file name as the date and time of the activity.
