Venu 2 connection with Android lost upon closing Garmin connect app

Greetings of the Day!

Venu 2 could not connect to Android without Garmin Connect app. launched. Issue persisting for last 2 weeks. If application is closed, connection is lost, as well as if application is not opened, connection may not be established.

Tried rebooting phone/watches, reset watch to factory settings, re-install the application and adjusting from the beginning. Northing helped, unfortunately application should be launched to pair with watch.

Does anybody had the same experience and eas able to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

  • Which phone are you using and how are you closing the app? On Android you shouldn't close apps. Just leave them and continue with other apps.
What is the setting for power management for the app? The app should be allowed to auto-launch in the background and continue to run.

If I force close Connect (on Huawei P10+ with Android 9) it will lose the connection but will autostart pretty quick and connection is restored.

  • Mi Note 10 pro. Closing when all open list of apps is opened and then swiping it. Power management is smart mode, it has the description you have mentioned.

Connection unfortunately not restored automatically, I need to open app again and only this way. For 4 nonth I am using Venu 2 all was fine, it started 2 weeks ago.

    Thank you for response!

  • Don't swipe away apps. App life cycle is handled and should be handled by the operating system.

Smart mode sounds like a managed mode by the operating system.

  • I appreciate your advice. However as you mentioned above in your case, connection is automatically restored, which is no longer applicable for me.

Moreover I assume that just for reading notifications from phone, Garmin Connect is not required to be opened.

  • Connection is restored because it starts a background service, but it looks like the OS on your phone doesn't do that, so don't stop it.

Everything is handled by the app. It can't read notifications or do anything without the app.
