Garmin Connect not sending Notifications to Watch

I have a Garmin Vivoactive 4 which has been working fine for a year until recently.

My watch has stopped receiving notifications from my phone, it used to send everything from WhatsApp messages to emails and BBC/Sky news stories.

Recently it has stopped sending notifications to my watch, nothing has changed on the phone (Oppo Find X3 Pro), it has not had any firmware updates etc.

If I delete the app from my phone, remove the watch from paired Bluetooth devices and set everything up again, notifications get sent through to the watch again, but only for about a day (sometimes only a few hours).

I have checked that the apps to send notification s are enabled, the settings allow notifications at all times and that my phone has grated connect all the permissions it needs but still tiu stops sending after a while.

My watch and phone were working perfectly together for a year and this has only started happening recently.
