course type changed after creation

I create a course from my android phone saying course type: "Road Cycling" then send it to Garmin Fenix 6. I start the course using the "navigation" feature. when completing my workout the app records it as a general workout then I have to edit it in both Garmin Connect and Strava (change type back to cycling). Anyone can solve this bug?

I will find what happens with your instruction. However, I think because during course creating, I have categorized the Course Type as "Road Cycling" so if later I select Navigate-Course-[My course with type "Road Cycling"] then the app should inherit the pre-defined type; it will be more comfortable.

The solution is to remove "Navigate" from the list of activities so you never use that. Always select the activity type and from that start your navigation.

The idea is that you setup your data pages with data fields that you need for that particular activity type and then use that. If you use Navigate you will have data fields not for biking nor running nor walking. You will have data fields for navigate.

If Garmin changes the behaviour it will be odd the other way around. If you want to navigate a running course and don't want to do it running it would still end up as running and you will have to change the type afterwards.

Just use the watch as it is intended to be used and you will be fine.

Though I use GC Mobile IOS, I guess my findings are valid for GCM Android, too, because they must use the same server processes : forums.garmin.com/.../bug-or-limitation-in-changing-course-type
