How do I connect my Garmin to a new phone without resetting data?

Garmin said my device was being used by another account, when I paired it with my new phone and all data would have to be reset. How do I prevent this?

It sounds like you are using a another account. Double check that you are logged in with the same account as earlier. If you log in with the right account you should see all your old activity history.
