I added a HIIT exercise based on Cardion in my Descent MK2i but when I recorded the HIIT activity the HIIT badge was not awarded. If there is a HIIT badge, why is there no HIIT activity? Will the HIIT activity be added?

AFAIK, only the Venu 2 currently has HIIT capability, unless something has recently changed.
