How can I connect my headphones to my Garmin 1030 plus?

How can I connect my headphones to my Garmin 1030 plus? I want to receive my turn by turn navigation messages on the headset but I have not been able to set that up. Please help

You can't. It is using the phone to play sound. Connect both Edge and headphones to phone. Then you will get the navigation in your headphones.
