10k run training schedule is boring!

I am in week five now of a 10k running programme.  All I get in the schedule is easy runs, followed by easy runs.  I am getting very bored of it!!!

When will I get something different, such as hill or speed training?

It also does not seem to be increasing in distance.  Just 3.2, 4k easy runs.  I am not a beginner, which I specified at the start.  I can already complete a 10k in around 55mins, but want to improve this (would love to get back down to 50mins, which I could do a few years ago!)

I want to continue with the plan, but feel it is actually holding me back and my fitness is getting worse!

  • Which plan are you dong? If you did not choose beginner, then it would be either "Heart Rate Based, Intermediate," or "10K Intermediate." On week 5 I see threshold pace intervals.

  • I can see to end of week 5 now, just more easy runs........ The longest being 6.44k which I have already done a few times.

    I chose 10k intermediate...

There is just no variety.  I'll stick with it for a bit longer, but it was not what I was hoping for.  It just isn't pushing me at all.

    Thanks for your reply though.
