What is the point in this app???

Ok see here's why I have asked the question

If you have no data or wifi access the app pretty much stop working you can't access watch settings, you can see detailed information for the past few hours and so much more.. SO WHATS THE BLOODY POINT IN IT!!!!????  NO data means USELESS app.. Which means it becomes USELESS if you want to view historic data for the past few hours let alone days when out in the mountains where you are less likely to have a data connection and the information your watch could provide would be valuable ...

A BASIC and IMPORTANT  function is missing... And this is Ok....HOW THE HECK HAS THIS BEEN IGNORED?????

JEEZ Suunto SCREWED up their app badly but at least you could still use it for basic stuff like viewing  previous data and changing settings..

As you can guess I am angry and having had the watch lest than two weeks actually is making me want to return it for a full refund....

  • You can see the basic stuff and history on the watch.

    What information are you missing?

  • Arrr so thats enough then.. Well for me it's not.

What about if you are wild camping for a week in the middle of nowhere and want to have a proper look at the stats because you felt a little off at a certain point or climb etc?? Basic data is not always enough because you can;t  focus in fully on that area as is generalised  so whilst useful for a quick glance it is not useful to hep if you just what to check a few things like heart rate, speed etc more in depth which can help you decide if you are pushing in some areas too hard and to slow down or even the opposite..

Also Last night the HRM we use on  SAR/MRT callouts  stopped working so I though I know I will put my watch on the CAZ and I can monitor it using the Graph(visual aid as you will see the spikes etc at a glance) on the phone and then realised because we had no data where we was, that all I could see is the current HR which whilst helpful having the graph would have meant I had more meaningful data... That reminded me that this would mean it would be a similar issue on my youngest child who has a heart condition. I could use the suunto for this when we was wildcamping and view historical data without data connection... And always proved helpful and even life saving...

These are just two situations having even just 12-24 hours of historical data would be VERY useful.. The watch stores it so why the heck can't we view it on the phones without having data connection?

For me this renders the APP Useless when it could be at it's most valuable...

    hope that answers your question

    regards

  • I agree that it would be great with offline functions in the app.

The heart rate graph do not show the spikes. It is just average values over time. I don't know how long time, but it will not show the real spikes. Most spikes will not be shown in the graph. Compare the heart rate graph with one from an activity and you will see that they are not the same. The graph is not intended to be used for detailed heart rate data.

It is probably better to use the "Abnormal Heart Rate Alerts" on the watch to catch the spikes and use the real time heart rate to see the actual value or do a manual count of HR.

Another better solution could be to use broadcast heart rate on the watch and then use an app that tracks and logs that heart rate and displays the real time value and with a graph that displays all values. Not some average value like in Connect.

  • Thank your reply and seemingly agreeing

As to your solutions the solution of having the Connect  app with offline capability is for easier for HR. it is simple and anyone can do it without thought where as the other solutions require remembering to do it and how and having the app etc...it becomes over complicated which if you are using it to monitor your child with a heart issue becomes stressful and that then stress's the child and you guess wheres thats going..

And that still doesn't solve the issue if you use the wildcamp example. I rarely use the activity functions as  preferring to just look at the steps, hr alt, baro etc which is all recorded on the watch so I  seriously don't understand why this is not just synced to the watch for later upload when you have data connections.... It would make sense and would mean even if the watch somehow was too full or corrupted the data you could always access the most recent synced to the phone.... Seriously thought this would have been a minimum feature of the app if nothing else....

PS forgot to point out as the watch broadcasts the data via ANT+ only a limited amount of phones would be able to use the data... Thankfully my Phones and tablet do support ANT+ so no issues for me lol
