Can someone please clarify?

Hi! I'm new here, got my Garmin Instinct a couple of weeks ago.
Wanted to see if someone could clarify, In the app Garmin Connect, there is an activity for Rock Climbing however on my watch, I don't have such activity, when I climb, I have to select cardio and then go into the connect app after I finished the activity and manually change it there and then again in Strava. The thing that bothers me is not that I have to manually change it, it's a bummer its not on the watch but oh well, what bothers me is that once I change it to Climbing in the Connect app, it suddenly gets new fields such as "Routes Climbed" "Difficulty" "Falls" and so on, I, however, can't figure out for the life of me how I can edit these fields or get them to be filled in. Am I missing something or does the Garmin Instinct just not support that kind of stuff and won't let me edit those fields?

  • Only the top tier watches seems to get new activity types. Older and lower tier watches only get bug fixes and required updates. There might be exceptions. If you want new functions after you bought the watch you will have to buy the top ones.

Have you checked if you can edit those fields in Garmin Connect Web?

I can't see those fields for Rock Climbing. For indoor climbing and bouldering I get a few more fields.

  • Thanks for the fast reply!
Good point,i checked the web app but it's the same deal. It won't let me edit them, I've attached 2 screenshots, one insinside the "Edit" and one is from the Activity View.

And yes Indoor Climbing, Outdoor Climbing, and Bouldering is what id like to use.
