Do I need to open the connect app every time to pair the watch with an android phone?

My Garmin Instinct is paired with my Android through the app. But every time I close and start my phone Bluetooth, the watch does not pair again by itself. I have to open the connect app every time I want them to pair again. Is there a way it can happen by itself without the app?

Also in the Bluetooth section of the phone, it never showed paired even when they are paired. It just shows saved all the time.

  • Pairing should be done through the Connect app first rather than on the phone's Bluetooth.

If that's what you did, in the Connect app, go to the devices and long press Instinct link. You should get a prompt to update the Bluetooth connection.

If you didn't link through the app first, I would delete the pairing in the phone's Bluetooth settings and start again using the Connect app.

  • Also check the Android phone settings so Connect is on all the time and cannot be put to sleep.
