Yard Work

Is there a way to get an accurate reading for yard work, calories burned, etc.?

Thanks for any help!

  • I have the same question/request. Fitbit used to AUTO recognize a generic "Workout" when my HR jumped during snow shoveling, log hauling and splitting, or other strenuous activity. Don't mind manually starting/stopping the watch but what activity to choose for that type of work?

  • Calories are being counted (using the HRM) regardless whether you start an Activity or not, so if it is just for that purpose, there is no real need for it. If you want to log it anyway, to have some record, and a detailed report of the activity, then you can use for example the generic Cardio activity type for any workout where you do not require the GPS track. If it is an outdoor activity, and you need to have also the track logged, you can use for example Walking.

  • Thanks, yeah just found the Cardio activity and added it to my Favorites list for quick selection before I head out.
