since Garmin Express Update 7.7.1.0 import does not work - prevents the .FIT file uploading to Garmin Connect, Strava, Mapmyrun

Hi,

My Connect App has stopped uploading my Forerunner 35 run activity to Strava. This happened this morning after installing the latest update. The file is a .FIT file like the ones from yesterday which worked fine. Now it says "We don't support the file type you tried to import" on Garmin connect. similar issues on the other site mentioned above. Too much of a coincidence to blame the file.

What has happened in the latest update to screw things up? Anyone else found the issue and maybe how to overcome?

Are Garmin going to launch another update quickly to fix this complete mess? Any news?

Thanks

Ian

There is a problem with the .fit file on the watch. It is corrupt, which is common issue with the Forerunner 35. If you read the threads on the Forerunner 30/35 forum, you'll see what I mean. I've fixed literally hundreds of these on this forum and see these almost daily and at the same rate both before and after the the latest version of Garmin Express.

Attach it to this thread. We can take a look to see if it is repairable.

    • Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
    • Or upload the fit file to a file sharing service, such as OneDriveGoogle DriveDropbox, etc., then share a link to the file in your post.

Meanwhile, there are a few suggestions to help minimize the occurrence of corrupt fit files:

    • After verifying that everything has synced, remove the files in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder on the device’s file system using these directions: Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device
    • Avoid excessive button presses such as pausing during your activity. If you need to pause frequently during your run, consider turning on auto pause
    • Regularly check for firmware updates using Garmin Express
