I want to record my hikes on Garmin. Any advice?

I want to record my hikes on Garmin. I thought I could do it on Strava and it would copy to Garmin, but apparently not. If I do it on Garmin, there is no hike option, so would I have to record it as a walk, and will it still track the route on Strava, as it does for my runs? Any help appreciated!

Yes. Recording it as walking and then changing it to hike is what you will have to do. Your walk will be synced to Strava as soon as you sync so it will be synced as a walk. You will have to change to…

Yes. Recording it as walking and then changing it to hike is what you will have to do. Your walk will be synced to Strava as soon as you sync so it will be synced as a walk. You will have to change to hike in Strava as well. It will not be updated when you change in Garmin Connect.
