Disabling notifications on my smartphone when Garmin is connected

Hi everybody, I recently switched from a Samsung Watch to this more serious SportWatch, a Fenix 6 Sapphire.

What I miss so far (of what I knew I couldn't get of course..) is the ability to disable the smartphone's notifications when my garmin is connected.

I mean, I want to avoid double notifications .... is that at all possible ?

Thanks!

Gianni

  • Not sure if this is what you want. This will disable specific notifications on your watch. Open the Garmin Connect App. Enter the menu, select Settings, Notifications, App Notifications. Toggle off any app notifications that you don't want to receive.

I do this for notifications that I would consider non-urgent so I can focus on my training and not be interrupted by everything.

  • Thanks ! Actually I know how to disable the notifications on my watch, what I want is to silence my smartphone automatically when my watch is connected so I don't receive them twice in parallel. Of course I could silence my smartphone but that's not good since if my watch gets disconnected I won't get any notifications anymore..m

  • Hello, Is there any solution for this ? I'm exactly in the same situation

  • I don't think so my friend...after 1 year..I also moved to Fenix 7 (that I love) but this feature is not there.

I think it's pretty linked with the operating system, in fact what I noticed is that's available between devices of the same ecosystem, Apple Watch with iPhone, Galaxy Watch with Samsung Smartphone...not sure about the newer Xiaomi/Huawei couple watch+smartphone, but to achieve that I think it is matter of deep integration in the same operating system.

  • Of course I could silence my smartphone but that's not good since if my watch gets disconnected I won't get any notifications anymore

Once your watch gets disconnected, you are too far from your phone to hear any notification ;)

Of course, I get the point - it's really redundant to notify on the phone the same as on the watch.

But as you wrote, there's no way how this can be covered by 3rd party app - GCM can't supress system notifications on the phone. That's the reason why this works only on devices in the same ecosystem.
