I frequently get sent SMS text messages as part of a large group of people and then I get spammed with lots of (unnecesary) replies by all those people. I can't remove myself from the group message but I can block per-thread notifications via my Google Messages SMS app, i.e., I continue to get notifications for all *OTHER* SMS messages. But those group messages do not show-up on my Android phone's notification list.
Unfortunately, the Garmin Connect app is overly aggressive in seeking-out my SMS messages and notifies me of all regardless of whether or not they show-up in my phone's Notification list. This has happened with multiple Garmin devices, i.e., it's almost certainly not the device at fault.
Is there a way to make Garmin Connect only notify of messages in the Android Notification list?

P.S. I know- this is the opposite problem that most people have, too many SMS notifications rather than not enough. I'm guessing that Garmin made the app 'aggressive' about seeking-out messages in response to all the problems people have with NOT receiving their messages on their Garmin device.
P.P.S. The problem I have had in the past re missing SMS notifications was always traceable back to the Google Messages app being disabled in the Garmin Connect > Settings > Notifications > App Notifications list. So there's some edge-condition causing that to happen 'automatically', i.e., I certainly didn't disable it
