Bluetooth Connection to Phone Dropping

This is a fairly recent issue. It seems to have cropped up in the last few weeks.

Per the title, the phone connection to my FR935 drops and does not restore itself. Note that I don't keep the phone by my side 24/7 so some drops are expected, but they should not be permanent.

The latest happened today. Yesterday I tried rebooting both the phone and watch, deleting the original pairing, and repairing from scratch. Everything went well. This afternoon, while on a bike ride with live tracking on, the bluetooth connection just dropped mid-ride, panicking my wife when she stopped getting updates. Clearly the phone and watch were within arms reach of each other so it's not a range thing. I rebooted the watch in preparation for this post (with the phone beside me) and the connection restored itself.

I've got Garmin Connect v4.43 (apparently the latest version as of 26 May), and Android 8.0.0 on a cheap Motorola phone. The timing of the app update is suspicious.

Has anyone else experienced bluetooth connection issues in the last few weeks?
