Garmin has stopped tracking sleep. No heart rate showing for last night either when the watch was worn all night. What can I do to correct this?

My garmin vivoactive 4 always tracked sleep pretty well. I stopped wearing it at night for a while and now I'm wearing it again it isn't tracking my sleep. I'm also noting that last night it shows as no heart rate either when n the watch was worn all night. Any thoughts or help much appreciated. On a side note, a bike ride of mine I did the other day shows in connect but it wouldn't upload to Strava. Again, never had this issue before but again I'm now having issues. Beginning to get fed up with garmin and feels too unreliable.

  • Always start with a restart. Hold the top button until the watch is turned off. Don't do anything when you see things popup on the screen. Just keep holding. Then start it with the same button.

Is the heart rate measured now?

There are some support pages for helping the users with the sleep tracking. Here is one about missing heart rate during sleep: https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=1N1Rm5YV3Y9NhC5F6DYcf8

Strava is an unrelated issue and is on Strava. Sometimes Strava got some issues, but the activities are usually transfered eventually. I've never experienced that an activity hasn't been transfered. Just wait a couple of days. If it doesn't then download the fit file from Garmin Connect Web and import it to Strava.

You can check the status for Strava here: https://status.strava.com/

Something happended witht the upload right after 21:00 yesterday and there is usually a peak late every day. I'm not sure what timezone they are using. It looks like CEST to me (Central European Summer Time). I don't know if the charts are different if you are in another timezone. They probably are so you don't have to think about timezones and such details. Check if any peaks correlates to your missing sync to Strava.

  • I am having similar issues and my watch is not recording sleep or heart rate for about a week now.

  • Hi and thank you very much for the detailed reply. Much appreciated. Completed my restart and I currently have heart rate being tracked which is good. Hopefully it will start tracking my sleep of a night now. Heading out for a ride shortly too so I'll see if the issue with uploading to strava is sorted. That was an odd one, never had it happen before, it's been a few days now and still nothing but I'm not overly fussed. It's never been an issue before and don't anticipate it happening again. Thanks for your help Thumbsup
